Jim Floyd, a master carpenter and cabinetmaker who had studied the Carolina custom shops, began hull no. 1, the 59-foot Fin-Ally, in a Delaware barn in late 1995 and finished her in 1998. The yard found its footing around hull no. 6, the 63-foot Bandelero, and settled in Bear, Delaware, building cold-molded, stepped-bottom sportfishermen from the 40s to the 80s. His nephew John Floyd took over in 2014; hull no. 31, Special Situation, followed.
