Sunny Briggs

Sunny Briggs started mating on Oregon Inlet charter boats at twelve, captained for Omie Tillett, and built boats in the winters while fishing the summers before opening Briggs Boat Works at 370 Harbor Road, Wanchese, in 1985. Working with Steve French of Applied Concepts, the shop was the first to build on computer-cut jigs, an idea his wife Dee brought from the North Carolina furniture trade. Some seventy hulls later, Briggs retired in 2021 and handed the shop to Ricky Scarborough Jr.
