Destin charter captain Buddy Gentry and Steve Sauer met in the late 1960s and built their first fiberglass boat in the off-season. Over some 45 years as partners they built 52 custom sportfishermen, first for the Destin charter fleet, then light, quick-backing game boats sought for record chasing, fishing from Hawaii and New Zealand to Gabon and Cape Verde. The shop moved to Freeport, Florida, in January 2000. Sauer died in May 2018; a 52-footer then nearly finished was to be the last.
