Irving Forbes learned the trade from his brother-in-law Buddy Davis, full time from 1975, and after about ten years went out on his own at the Warren O'Neal boat shop in Manteo, where his first boat was Top Billin. He joined Paul Spencer in 1997, went back on his own after about ten years, and builds from a shop in Wanchese.
