Dean Johnson

Dean Johnson started as a mate out of Oregon Inlet Fishing Center at 15, took his captain's license in 1977 and ran charter boats for more than 23 years before opening Johnson Boatworks in Wanchese in 2000 to build sportfishermen. Marlin reviewed his 57 in 2009. In 2008 he went back to chartering from Oregon Inlet on his own boat, Sea Era. He died in Wanchese in December 2023.
